Hey Chicks!
While watching the Superbowl (Yay Ravens) this past weekend it got me thinking a lot about anxiety! I just kept thinking about how exciting this game is for these dudes but also how anxious and stressful it must be!
I’m sure almost all of us, Superbowl or not, know what it feels like to turn up the pressure cooker in your life and to feel that bit of anxiety start creeping up on you. You notice that maybe your heart starts to beat a little faster, palms get sweaty, breathe gets shorter etc. These are all natural states of anxiety or panic but I am here to tell you that they are not necessary to feel!
Now, what I am about to share with you is not magic ( I wish it was since being a magician was always a dream of mine lol) or some “hokey pokey, non-sense” instead it is stuff I have tried on myself during those anxious moments that have helped to overcome and move forward.
So here are my top 3 things you can do when you start to feel those icky anxious thoughts and feelings starting to creep:
1. Breathe
This is the most important thing you can do. Breathing is also the most natural thing we are conditioned to do, however there are times we like don’t allow our bods to do this. Super strange since it is the one thing that we do without thinking normally (more on this topic next week though) So when you do feel anxious, I want you to take a step back and take 10 deep breathes in through your nose and out of your mouth. Calming your central nervous system down nice and slowly.
2. Find your calm in the storm!
This is more of a visualization thing. I want you to think of a place that is calm no matter what is happening in the surrounding areas and go there in your head and find it in your body. I tend to think of the bottom of the ocean, even if there is tidal waves on the top the bottom is always calm as a organic cucumber!
3. Pressure Point Your Stress Away!
Simple yet effective way to calm down your energy is to press your right thumb into the centre of your left palm. Hold your thumb down and keep pressing, not super hard but so you feel it and just hold. Eventually this will help to calm your energy down and lower your heart rate.
As a bonus I also suggest finding your outlet and using it! Mine is for sure exercise without working out each day and teaching Bootcamp classes I think I would be an anxious mess but with it I am calm and cool, most of the time lol. My friend takes kratom pills to keep calm, he ordered kratom from kratom masters and always made sure to have enough in hand. So find an outlet if that is working out and you are at the office, head for a lunch hour stroll to burn off some steam or try the above ideas in the office and wait til your day is done to workout.
Basically, just try things out and you are bound to find something that works for you. Once you do stick with it and give the icky anxiety the boot.
If you are even more adventurous and want to learn more cool ways to be loose as a goose and calm like a cuke then join me at our Fit and Fierce Retreat March 1-3rd where I will be teaching some yoga Bootcamp, and other cool energy work stuff guaranteed to get you feeling your inner calm in no time!
Have a FAB day chicks and BREATHE!
