Interview with Erica from “Everything Mom & Baby”

We’ve been so excited to have Erica, of Everything Mom and Baby, in our Forest Hill class! A busy mama of an adorable boy, she tells us how she manages it all!

Tell us a little bit about your blog, Everything Mom & Baby, and how it got started.

Well my blog started last year in January of 2010 while my babe was having a nap. I just posted a recipe and it went from there.

My blog at the beginning was about recipes for infants because so many of the moms in my mom group didn’t know what to make let alone how to make food(it’s so easy to make puree) so I posted my favourite recipes, also my favourite products for my son as I always got compliments on what new knick knaks I had for him. My shopping addiction was replaced with a new one when I had my son. So it was all about eco, organic and safe, local products. Also moms were asking me questions and advice on teething, diapers, colds etc so I put it on the blog as well.

Companies started contacting me as my blog grew and I started to doing reviews and hosting giveaways as well.
I never knew what blogging would do for me let alone the blogging world. I had no idea of all the things that would come to me. I am very grateful.

10 months later I have my own business thanks to blogging. I still remember the day I sat at the computer and tried to figure this entire blogging thing out.

So you have a blog, a job, an adorable 2-year old AND you work out! How do you do it, chick?

I make it work! I have to. Thanks to FIT CHICKS I feel like a human being again.

I do work group workoutpart time but I have my own online business too. Everything   Mom and Baby Shop and it’s really easy actually to do it all.

I can stay home with son, which was an important decision for us so we’ve made compromises and I wouldn’t change a thing. To see my son every day and all the new things to says and does…WOW!

I have my “break” twice a week to recharge and just be me. FIT CHICKS has made such valuable a transformation in my life that I am stronger, I have more energy to chase Charlie around.

What’s the one thing that keeps you organized in your day-to-day life and still helps you get your workouts in?


No one else is going to do it. I thank my genes, I am very detailed orientated and I make things happen. If I say I am going to do it, I am going to do it. I can’t stand people who fall back on their words. It’s such an easy way out.

We love having you in our classes, chick, and know that you always give it your all. So…what is the one move that you love to hate?

Hmmmm. I don’t know if I will ever love Burpees. Maybe Spider push ups!

As a FAB juggling mama, what’s a key motivator for taking care of yourself with health and fitness?

My family. I mean before starting FIT CHICKS, I was lazy. Cardio lazy. I had no idea how weak I was. Having a baby takes a lot out of you and your body is never the same. I needed to repair my body after having a child and exercise should have been implemented sooner. As well if I want to give Charlie a sibling my body has to be strong to “house” another angel.

Any words of encouragement for other busy moms?

Make the time! You have to do it for yourself. Why wouldn’t you want to improve your quality of life? Do you want to live the rest of life tired, unhealthy and hate looking at your body everyday? What kind of a life is that? Don’t you want to feel alive again? You need to make time because once you get your blood pumping you’ll feel so good after class and you have no idea what you’re missing. It’s a fantastic group of woman from all walks of life.
If I can do it, you can do it.

What would you say to other moms who are nervous to start a FIT CHICKS Bootcamp or getting back into the workout routine?

There is no need to be nervous. You can do it! You can go at you at your own pace, your Chick Sergeant will help inspire you along the way and help you get to where you want to be. No one is competing against each other or judging you.

It is so important to get back into a workout routine because it’s your time to yourself where you can push yourself, test yourself and feel like a million bucks when you’re done.
