WELLNESS WEDNESDAY – Chick Style “ice cream” recipe..without the cream!

Hey Chicks,

Happy Wednesday! June Bootcamps are now launched and I am so pumped to be outdoors 🙂  I had an awesome time this past week sweating up a storm with our Ottawa Chick Sergeants and Chicks (they are fierce!) and the warm weather got me thinking about summer pre workout snacks that won’t disrupt the tummy during a sweat session and are tasty too (I have the prob where food like to come back to “haunt” me during burpees – yikes!).  So before my bootcamp with the Ottawa chicks I made the “ice cream” that I always make at home for a treat (I’m a dessert junkie) that is all natural, low cal, full of nutrients and not to mention delish.

Sweet stretches after a sweet bootcamp with Chick Sergeant Stephanie at our Ottawa Glebe Location

The verdict? A killer workout, totally had energy and I did not feel like anything was going to come back up – yay!

Pre workout recipe and healthy snack ideas

My pre workout snack: Sassy Strawberry "Ice Cream"!

Here are a few of my fave Chick Style “Ice Cream” recipes that I love and I hope you will too! All you need is a blender and a little patience to play with the proportions to find the balance that works for you.

CHICK STYLE “ICE CREAM” RECIPES

RADICAL RASPBERRY

  • Frozen Raspberries
  • Fresh Orange (cut in half and scoop out the pulp & juice)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (make sure to check for fake sweeteners and added sugars!)

SASSY STRAWBERRY CHOCOLATE

  • Frozen strawberries
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Almond Milk

CHOCO BANANA PEANUT BUTTER

  • Frozen Bananas
  • All natural Peanut Butter (can also sub any other nut butter)
  • Chocolate protein powder (make sure to check for fake sweetners or added sugar!)

You may need to add a little more liquid as needed or if you prefer it a little creamier – add some avocado for a healthy fat.  It may change the color a bit but will taste great.

Also, all of the above can be changed into a smoothie by adding more liquid (throw some greens in too for extra nutrition!).  Try them out and let me know what you think!

Have a fab day,

Your Head Chick, Laura xo
