My Mama – The Ultimate FIT CHICK

Hey Chicks!!

Things have just been crazy around here lately! Even with a week off in before the start of our September boot camps, it does not slow down. Between our Chicks 4 Change charity classes, the launch of our first 28 Day Pedometer Challenge coming up on September 13th, and prepping for the Ottawa Women’s Show and Toronto Total Health Show (come check by, say hi and check out our fab demos!) – I feel busier than ever. Oh and did I mention it is FIT CHICKS second birthday is TODAY?! How time flies when you are having fun!

Speaking of birthdays, I was actually out in Ottawa this past weekend to celebrate the birthday of one of the fittest, most FABULOUS, chicks I know – my beautiful Mama! She turned the big 5-5  (sorry Mom, don’t kill me but you have got to represent!) and if I look half as good as she does at 55, I will be a very happy lass.

My mom to me is the epitome of what a FIT CHICK is and I am honestly not just saying that. Everyday, she lives la vida FIT CHICK – eating primarily unprocessed, unpackaged foods made with love and exercises daily between power walking, Zumba, weight training (I have bicep envy – hers are amazing!) and dance lessons with her partner to keep balance between being active and doing things that feed her soul.  But even more than that what makes my mom my #1 chick, is the way she approaches life.  She lives fully and loves freely – I mean, I never met someone who gets excited about everything! You would have thought the green bags I gave her to help her veggies last longer were made out of diamonds!

Me and my beautiful mama

So in celebration of my beautiful, amazing, fabulous, loving, supportive Mama Chick, I thought I would share with you the most important things about being a FIT CHICK – inside and out – that I have learned from her:

MAMA JACKSON’S TOP 10 LESSONS TO LIVIN LA VIDA FIT CHICK

1. A cup of tea makes everything better.

2. Fresh coriander tastes fabulous in almost anything

3. Take a chance on life and love. What is the worst thing that could happen, it doesn’t work out and you do something else?

4. Laugh at yourself. You are probably a lot funnier than you think.

5. Always have a drawer of hostess gifts. Who knows when you might need a dog shaped wine stopper as a last minute gift!

6. Dance. Even if you clap while you do it and make a funny face (or drag your boyfriend to lessons every week), it will make your heart smile and give you a great butt.

7. When you hug someone, REALLY HUG THEM! Squeeze tighter for just that last 10 seconds. You never know how much sometimes people need a hug even when they try to pull away.

8. Always say I love you when you hang up the phone. Even if it may seem like an inappropriate time – it is never inappropriate.

9. Take the time to make a home cooked meal and enjoy it!

10. Never stay angry for long. It is much easier being happy (plus it saves you wrinkles and botox is expensive)

11. BONUS!  Treat everyone you meet like they matter because they do.

And these are just the Coles Notes version, believe me she has a TON more! Test Mama J’s lessons out, I promise they will make you a healthier, happier chick quicker than you can say BURPEE!

Leave me any tips you have learned to livin’ la vida FC (I promise to pass it on)

Happy Birthday, Mom – I LOVE YOU!!! XOX
