How to Make a New Year’s Resolution

Happy New Year, Chicks!!

First off, we want to say how thrilled we are that we got to spend 2010 with you and that we look forward to another year full of fab femmes!

Secondly, we’re going to talk about what’s on every chick’s mind…resolutions! (Yikes!) Once a new year begins, chicks start to look at changes they want to make, but we all know that these resolutions can be hard to keep. So how do you set a goal and make sure you succeed? So glad you asked, chicks!

A FIT CHICKS’ GUIDE TO A FAB NEW YEAR!

1. Strut your stuff!
Of course it’s good to see what needs changing, but don’t forget that you are FAB, chick! Remember to focus on what you did like from last year. What made you proud? What changes did you make last year that you want to continue into 2011? Starting the year on a positive foot will give you the self-love boost you need to make changes!

2. Be realistic.
Nothing wrong with aiming high, chicks, but be honest with these goals. A lot of us make resolutions, but don’t create a routine we can stick with. Working out for 1 hour 6 days a week may sound great, but is this something you can sustain? Making unachievable goals will only set you up for failure and leave you feeling bummed.

3. Set measurable goals.
Make smaller goals that you can achieve – not only does it keep you on track, but it will give you the motivation you need! Instead of making one big goal (I want to learn how to run), make smaller goals that you can celebrate throughout the year (I want to run 10 minutes straight by March 1st) then change it up (I want to run 15 minutes straight by June 1st). Little victories remind you of progress and keeps your eye on that big goal!

4. Be nice.
Change is hard, chicks! If you slip, just pick up and keep going – don’t ditch those chicktastic goals you set for yourself! One of the biggest barriers to change is ourselves. Cut yourself some slack and you’ll be amazed what you can accomplish when you get out of your own way. 😉 Skipped that workout routine you swore you’d stick to? Tell yourself you did it before and you can do it again – tomorrow is a new day and it’s waiting for you, chicks!

5. Write down “why.”
We all start the year rarin’ to go with good resolutions – but where do they go? Chicks, we know you’re busy and goals fall by the wayside, so keep yourselves motivated! Write down why you wanted to make these changes in the first place – you might forget! Did you want to work out more because it helps with your stress level? Did you want to save for a trip so you could spend time with the kids? Remind yourself of why it was so important to you to make this change. And if you’re a visual chick – make a collage of images or words that inspire you. Cut out a wedding dress from a magazine, put up a pic of that dream home you want….you get the picture, chicks!

6. Don’t wait for change to happen to you – make it happen! We want you to know that YOU CAN DO IT, CHICKS! We are always inspired by the changes our chicks make in class and we know that you can accomplish whatever you set your mind to!

We know your fabulous, now go make sure everyone else knows!

And have an INCREDIBLE 2011!
