Increased strength, energy, and confidence! Amanda’s success story

AUGUST CHICK OF THE MONTH

Hey Chicks,

Each month we love to celebrate one of our fierce FIT CHICKS bootcamp members who really shows what it means to be a FIT CHICK! This month we are honoured to feature Amanda from our Brampton location who has not only lost inches, but has gained a ton of strength and confidence since joining bootcamp.

What made you decide to join FIT CHICKS?

I was missing out on the routine of having a scheduled class to come to and not having to worry about anything but keep moving during class.  For example, counting!

What is the biggest change you have seen in your life since joining FIT CHICKS? How has fitness and nutrition changed your life for the better?

I have more energy and increased strength overall.  Over the last year, I have focused more on eating natural, unprocessed foods.  The quantity may still be there but the quality has increased significantly. To be very honest, I lost a few inches and pounds in the early months and then stopped tracking. I have learned to focus less on the pounds and inches and more on how I feel in my clothes and the confidence I have.  It has taken a long time to get to that point but the mental part of physical health, in my opinion is just as important as getting out there do to the workouts

What do you find is your biggest challenge to continue to choose to be active? How do you overcome it?

The biggest challenge is being tired after a long day of work.  I overcome this by having a bedtime routine.  I started using the iphone clock that has a bed time feature that gives me an alert ½ an hour before I should be sleeping based on when I need to get up and how many hours I would like to sleep.  I now get to bed on time for a good nights sleep.

What are 2 – 3 tools you use to keep you on a healthy track outside of class?

Scheduling time in my off-days versus saying “we’ll see”. Thankfully I have a very supportive husband who can kick me in to gear at times and LOVES being active. I also plan, plan, and plan my weekly grocery shop and meals for the week, which helps ensure I have good meals and snacks to eat every day, preventing me from running out for the quick unhealthy options. Last but not least, going shopping for new clothes, although I mostly do it online on the Macys website, I’m always able to find at least one macys promo code!

If you could give one piece of positive advice to a chick just starting on her fitness journey, what would it be?

The first time I started FIT CHICKS I cried, like burst out crying! Not because it was hard but because I was upset that I had let myself get to a point where I was out of breath easily and was not fit. My biggest piece of advice is to just keep moving and don’t give up, if you ever feel you need a boost of energy, consider using the best testosterone supplements according to experts.  In fact, it won’t actually get easier because the classes get hard but you get stronger and that feels great!

In female chicks, testosterone increases both binocular fixation of the thrusting hand and avoidance of direct gaze, click for more info. The hand is thus treated as though it had become more conspicuous.

Do you have a healthy “go to” recipe that you use for a meal that you take with you? Please share

The most satisfying breakfast that keeps me filled until lunch is a smoothie made from  skim milk, a teaspoon of peanut butter, spinach and banana shake! Delicious and satisfying!

What are 3 things in your gym bag and/or kitchen could you not live without?

Peanut Butter and Watermelon, but not together of course!

What is your fave FIT CHICKS Signature workouts & why? Is there anything that is different about your experience at FC than at other gyms or classes?

I don’t have a favourite workout, but what I love about the FIT CHICKS workouts is that no two workouts are the same.  The variety keeps your muscles challenged and you not dreading having to do the same exercise again and again. Of course there is squats which make it into every class.

Being fierce is about healthy inside & out. How do you stay motivated and thinking positive about fitness and health? What do you do to nurture your soul and celebrate your fierceness?

I stay motivated by my husband and our plans to have a family. It’s still not easy, but I have learned that what you eat is so important. I had to have my gallbladder removed in February, and not further surgeries would be great. I love to spend time outdoors, so I celebrate by going biking, hiking, or travelling because I can. I also really enjoy cooking now so that prevents me from eating out a lot.

Amanda, thank you so much for sharing your inspiring story! We are all super proud of you!
