weight loss success story

BEFORE - The awesome Joanne

Joanne is living proof that Livin La Vida FIT CHICK can change you at any point in your life. With hitting menopause ,  Joanne needed some help dealing with her symptoms and keeping her energy levels high to give her 150 students (yes she teaches 150 students daily!) a run for their money. She jumped on the FIT CHICK train  with gusto and the results speak for themselves!  Joanne not only has reached her target weight of 133lbs but has more amazing energy, sleeps like a baby, adjusting to menopause and now can “out push up” her hubbie (go chick go!)

AFTER: The "chick power" push up queen Joanne

Let’s let Joanne take it away and share with you her story – take it away chick!

1. What made you decide to join FIT CHICKS?

I needed to deal with my menopause symptoms!

2.  What were your reasons (or goals) when signing up for bootcamp? What have your results been like since joining bootcamp?

I wanted to tone my arms and lose a little fat around my waist. I also needed more energy to keep up with my 150 students I teach in one day. I really feel much more energetic. I sleep much better without the help of any meds.

3.    What is your fave FIT CHICKS workout? Which exercises do you love to hate?

My all time favourite is Tabatas. Lots of change and variety keeps me motivated!

4.  Physically and/or emotionally, what has been the biggest change that you have noticed in yourself?

I am really self conscious of my arms in the summer therefore push ups are my favourite exercise to keep my arms toned. When I started fit chicks in September 2011 I could only do one push up, now I can do 20. I can do more than my husband (just a little competitive:). I have maintained my waist size, thanks to sit ups. I try to do a few every night while watching television or while my porridge is cooking. They are much easier to do now. I love the way my Chick Sergeant Jenny varies the approaches to sit ups.

I also sleep much better and I have more energy after my workouts. I can keep up with my students and I often can out dance them or show them exercises that they are quite challenged in:)

5. In terms of nutrition, what changes did you make? What helped you keep on track?

I drink more water during the day now. Keeping hydrated, simply with water, has helped me stay away from junk food at the 3:00pm low. A small handful of nuts keeps me going till dinner.

6. What would be your advice to a chick looking to change her health but is too scared? Why would you recommend FIT CHICKS bootcamp to a girlfriend?

I really like the social aspect. I am not motivated on my own but if I know that I have a scheduled class twice a week with a great instructor like Jenny, that keeps me coming back.

7. How do you keep yourself on track to reaching your weight loss and fitness goals?

I have a pair of jeans from when I was in my 20’s, if I can zip them up all is good. I weigh myself once a week to make sure I’m on track with my weight. I lost about 8 pounds in my first 5 months and now I am at my target weight of 133 pounds. I indulge a little on the weekends but I can get back on track during the work week, by attending religiously my fit chick classes and walking the dog for one hour a day.

Joanne, we are beyond proud of you and your hard work…it is so inspiring to all chicks that starting (or already started!) living la vida FIT CHICK that they can make healthy changes too. Thanks for allowing us to help along your journey, sharing your story with us and keep up the fabulous work!
