{"id":5898,"date":"2015-01-27T18:18:58","date_gmt":"2015-01-28T02:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/?p=5898"},"modified":"2015-01-27T18:18:58","modified_gmt":"2015-01-28T02:18:58","slug":"chick-feed-3-winter-warm-up-overnight-oat-recipes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/2015\/01\/chick-feed-3-winter-warm-up-overnight-oat-recipes\/","title":{"rendered":"CHICK FEED: 3 Winter Warm Up Overnight Oat Recipes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Chicks,<\/p>\n<p>Winter is upon us and if you are in a cold, snowy climate that gets dark by 5pm, you may be craving comfort foods like nobody\u2019s business.\u00a0 Instead of reaching for the refined carby bagels and breads to start the day, <strong>nothing makes us sing \u201cYummy, yummy, yummy \u2013 I\u2019ve got healthy love in my tummy!\u201d like a thick, creamy, filling bowl of oats to start the day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5899\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1690-e1422411287224.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5899\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"IMG_1690\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1690-e1422411287224.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5899\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1690-e1422411287224-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_1690-e1422411287224.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5899\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cozy Cocoa Coconut Blueberry <\/p><\/div>\n<p>Now in true FIT CHICK style, we would never give you just a boring old oatmeal recipe!\u00a0 <strong>Here are 3 of our fave overnight oatmeal recipes that will knock your flavour socks off<\/strong>.\u00a0 Plus they are <strong>\u201cComplete in 3\u201d approved (ie contain protein, fibre and healthy fat) to keep your blood sugar balanced<\/strong>, is a great pre \/ post workout snack and are completely portable.\u00a0 Make the night before in mason jars and can be eaten cold or warm in the am (just heat for about 30 sec in microwave or on low on the stove so not to \u201ccook\u201d the oats but just heat up)<\/p>\n<p>Here are 3 of our fave Chicktastic Overnight Oats.\u00a0 All of the below make 1 serving<\/p>\n<h3><strong>COZY COCOA &amp; COCONUT BLUEBERRY<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/3 cup large flake oats<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup unsweetened almond milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup 0% Greek yogurt<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd &#8211; 1 tbsp chia seeds<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp of cocoa powder or raw cacao for super food power<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp of shredded unsweetened coconut<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp of raw honey or stevia to sweeten<\/li>\n<li>Top with blueberries and extra coconut<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a mason jar, mix together oats, almond milk, greek yogurt, chia seeds, cocoa powder, coconut and honey or stevia. Top with blueberries and extra coconut.\u00a0 Leave overnight to set.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>CHICKS LOVE CARROT CAKE <\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/3 cup large flake oats<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup unsweetened almond milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup 0% Greek yogurt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 \u2013 1 tbsp chia seeds<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp of maple syrup<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp of cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup of shredded carrots<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp of chopped dates or raisins (try to find organic!)<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp of chopped walnuts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a mason jar, mix together oats, almond milk, greek yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, cinnamon.\u00a0 Layer carrots and top with dates and walnuts.\u00a0 Leave overnight to set.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>ALL YOU NEED ALMOND BUTTER VANILLA SPICE<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/3 cup large flake oats<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup unsweetened almond milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup 0% Greek yogurt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 \u2013 1 tbsp chia seeds<\/li>\n<li>1tsp honey or stevia to taste<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp of pure vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp of all spice<\/li>\n<li>Top with 1 tbsp of almond butter drizzled and 1 tbsp of slivered almonds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a mason jar, mix together oats, almond milk, greek yogurt, chia seeds, honey or stevia to taste, vanilla extract and all spice.
