{"id":5441,"date":"2014-04-30T09:50:22","date_gmt":"2014-04-30T17:50:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/?p=5441"},"modified":"2014-04-30T09:50:22","modified_gmt":"2014-04-30T17:50:22","slug":"chick-feed-5-ingredient-one-pot-turkey-chili-high-protein-high-fibre-gluten-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/2014\/04\/chick-feed-5-ingredient-one-pot-turkey-chili-high-protein-high-fibre-gluten-free\/","title":{"rendered":"CHICK FEED:  5 Ingredient One Pot Turkey Chili (High protein, high fibre, gluten free)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Chicks,<\/p>\n<p>Even though it is technically spring, these chilly temperatures are not only making me pumped that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\">FIERCE in 8 classes are still indoors for the May session starting May 5th<\/a> but it&#8217;s still making me crave some serious warm\/ love in the tummy feeling foods.\u00a0 And you know me, I have the attention span of a 5 year old (and I loathe washing dishes!)\u00a0so <strong>this one pot turkey chili made with 5 ingredients is my new go to.<\/strong> It is high protein, high fibre, and gluten free.\u00a0 Plus it gets better with time so make a batch, portion it out for the week or freeze for easy meal prep:)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/turkey-chili.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5445\" title=\"turkey chili\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/turkey-chili.jpg\" alt=\"1 pot turkey chili\" width=\"403\" height=\"403\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/turkey-chili-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/turkey-chili-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/turkey-chili.jpg 403w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>CHICK FEED:\u00a0 5 Ingredient One Pot Turkey Chili<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>454g of lean ground turkey or chicken<\/li>\n<li>1 &#8211; 412ml can of diced tomatoes\u00a0(but if you like a more soupy chili, use the larger can or 2 small)<\/li>\n<li>1 can &#8211; 426ml can of kidney beans, undrained<\/li>\n<li>1 large white onion<\/li>\n<li>Mixed peppers (choose from green, yellow and orange for color \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<li>EXTRA:\u00a0 Seasonings incl Chili powder, salt and pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>DIRECTIONS<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Chop onions and peppers in large chunks.\u00a0 Set peppers aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a large pot, lightly pan fry onions over medium heat\u00a0til slightly soft.\u00a0Stir in ground turkey or chicken and cook til brown. Drain excess to get rid of excess fat or water and add back to pot.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in can of tomatoes, kidney beans, chopped peppers and 1 tbsp. of chili powder (play with the amount of chili powder based on personal taste and amount of tomatoes)<\/li>\n<li>Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low, cover and lightly simmer for a min of 10 min.\u00a0 The longer you leave it, the better is tastes so I like to leave for at least 1 hour.<\/li>\n<li>Season with salt and pepper to taste.
