{"id":2903,"date":"2011-07-20T06:19:25","date_gmt":"2011-07-20T14:19:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/?p=2903"},"modified":"2011-07-20T06:19:25","modified_gmt":"2011-07-20T14:19:25","slug":"wellness-wednesday-tips-for-boosting-your-self-esteem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/2011\/07\/wellness-wednesday-tips-for-boosting-your-self-esteem\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellness Wednesday &#8211; Tips for Boosting Your Self Esteem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Chicks!<\/p>\n<p>Happy Wednesday..what a scorcher of a week!\u00a0 We are counting the days until our <a href=\"http:\/\/oxfamcanada.akaraisin.com\/pledge\/Team\/Home.aspx?seid=3694&amp;tid=30801&amp;mid=10\">Oxfam Trailwalker 100KM Hike<\/a> on July 22 and hoping that mother nature will be kind and keep the rain away.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/charity\/upcoming-events\"> Don&#8217;t forget I am running a charity boot camp class tonight at 6:30pm <\/a>with all proceeds going toward Oxfam Canada so come out and sweat up a storm with me for an amazing cause!<\/p>\n<p>So I recently did an interview with <a href=\"www.canadianliving.com\">CanadianLiving.com<\/a> (so exciting!)\u00a0 and one of the things we talked alot about was the emotional \/ self esteem\u00a0aspect of fitness.\u00a0After the interview I really started thinking more about it and it inspired me to write my blog post today.\u00a0 In my opinion,\u00a0the emotional side of fitness\u00a0is the most underrated and overlooked part of living a long term\u00a0healthy lifestyle, losing weight and just being happy.\u00a0\u00a0Women are extremely hard on themselves and we continuously point out what we see as negative about ourselves\u00a0 versus the positives. It is hard to change things coming from a place of self hatred.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Old habits die hard and it is easier said than done but here are some exercises that\u00a0I have tried to help you start believing that you ARE the fabulous, fierce chick we know you are!<\/p>\n<h2>Laura&#8217;s Top Tips For Blasting Low Self-Esteem<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1. <strong>Pick a &#8220;Chick Power&#8221; anthem song.<\/strong> Music is an instant mood &amp; self esteem booster.\u00a0 Select a strong, positive song that gets you pumped to be your anthem this summer (mine is currently &#8220;I&#8217;m Every Women&#8221; by Whitney Houston &#8211; love it).\u00a0 Blare it in your car, living room, office\u00a0 or on the beach to make you feel like the fierce femme you are.<\/p>\n<p>[http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-gAi-T4qFcc]<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. The Love Me List. <\/strong> Grab a pen and paper and write down at least 5 things you love about yourself &#8211; inside and out.\u00a0 Every time you feel down or yucky in your skin,\u00a0 pull out your list to give yourself an instant pep talk \/ pick up.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2916\" style=\"width: 190px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Mel-Jackie-and-Laura.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2916\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2916\" title=\"Mel Jackie and Laura\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Mel-Jackie-and-Laura.jpg\" alt=\"melissa laura and jackie\" width=\"180\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2916\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">With my &quot;No negative self-talk&quot; Ambassadors: Melissa and Jackie!<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>3. Enlist friends &amp; family to be your &#8220;No negative self talk&#8221; Ambassadors<\/strong>. Let your peeps know you are trying to change your ways.
