{"id":3846,"date":"2012-05-04T13:46:02","date_gmt":"2012-05-04T21:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/?p=3846"},"modified":"2012-05-04T13:46:02","modified_gmt":"2012-05-04T21:46:02","slug":"fitness-friday-roasted-asparagus-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/2012\/05\/fitness-friday-roasted-asparagus-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"FITNESS FRIDAY &#8211; Roasted Asparagus Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Chicks!<br \/>\nSpring is here which for some of you brings up thoughts of patio season, open toed shoes, bike riding and of course <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\">outdoor Bootcamp classes <\/a>coming soon!<\/p>\n<p>Spring brings up something a little different for me \u2013 it <strong>makes me think about asparagus <\/strong>\u2013 yes I know I am a nerd lol.<strong> I just love Asparagus! <\/strong>There are so many reasons to love it I mean how could you not?!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3847\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Asparagus.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3847\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3847\" title=\"Asparagus\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Asparagus-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"fit chicks asparagus\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3847\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Asparagus..how I love these sweet green sticks!<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Asparagus is a high fibre food <\/strong>which as you know around the coop <strong>we love high fibre high volume eating<\/strong>. It is also jam packed with folate and Vitamin B which both help to keep your cardiovascular system running at full steam. As well, the amino acids in asparagus work to keep you regular by flushing the body of salt and other toxins.<br \/>\nHowever, the best part in my opinion besides it being Yummy is that <strong>4 spears are just a mere 13 calories!<\/strong> Here is my favorite way to enjoy this sweet veggie:<\/p>\n<h3>CHICK FEED: Head Chick Amanda&#8217;s Roasted Asparagus<\/h3>\n<p>1. Preheat oven to 425. Place Asparagus on baking sheet and top with teaspoon of oil and teaspoon of minced garlic.<\/p>\n<p>2. Bake for about 7 minutes \u2013 trust me you do not want to over bake soggy asparagus = gross asparagus!<\/p>\n<p>3. Remove from baking sheet<\/p>\n<p>4. Top with 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar, \u00bc teaspoon pepper and \u00bd teaspoon of grated romano cheese<\/p>\n<p><strong>Et voila you got yourself an amazing side dish that is delicious, nutritious and filling!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Have a FAB day chicks!<br \/>\nAmanda xo<\/p>\n<p>PS Dont forget <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\">bootcamp and Zumba start again on Mon May 7th<\/a> so I hope to see y&#8217;all there!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Chicks!
