We are in our last week of Jan Bootcamp and getting ready to start our sweat sessions for Feb (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\">next session starts Feb 6th so join us<\/a>!) and in one of our last classes, we were chatting nutrition.\u00a0 A great question came up from one of my chicks about milk.\u00a0 <strong>She has been having reactions to dairy<\/strong> (ie bloating, breakouts and lots of phlegm &#8211; yuck!) and is most likely lactose intolerant as are alot of chicks.\u00a0 <strong>Dairy is one of the hardest things for our bodies to break down<\/strong> so what else is there out there&#8230;.check it out!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/coconut-milk.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3638\" title=\"coconut milk\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/coconut-milk-300x275.jpg\" alt=\"coconut milk dairy alternative\" width=\"300\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/coconut-milk-300x275.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/coconut-milk.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>CHICKTASTIC SUBSTITUTIONS FOR DAIRY<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Almond Milk (really great in tea, coffee or baking as it is a neutral flavour)<\/li>\n<li>Coconut Milk<\/li>\n<li>Rice Milk<\/li>\n<li>Cashew Milk<\/li>\n<li>Hemp Milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All should be available in any major grocer now where as before you would have to get from the health food store.\u00a0 <strong>Just make sure you choose the unsweetened kind<\/strong> as many are packed with sugar to make them take better.<\/p>\n<p>Or even better, <strong>try making your own! <\/strong> My personal fave is coconut milk (which is not the juice in the centre of the coconut but is pressed from the flesh).\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coconut-connections.com\/coconut_milk.htm\">Check out this recipe<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/Make-Almond-Milk\">make your own nut milk <\/a>(ie almond or cashew) but I suggest to use a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenhealthcanada.com\/Nut_Milk_Bags.html\">nut milk\u00a0bag<\/a> to avoid the chunks- gross!<\/p>\n<p>It may be a little trial and error to find what dairy substitute works for you but test it out, your belly will thank you!)<\/p>\n<p>Have a fab day,<\/p>\n<p>Laura<\/p>\n<p>PS If you want new workout gear, our<a href=\"http:\/\/store.fitchicks.ca\"> Sassy Shirt Sale<\/a> is rocking until Feb 5th to save 25% off all tees, tanks and shirts \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Chicks, Hope you are all having a fabulous week!
