Our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\">first bootcamps of the yea<\/a>r start tonight, today is the kick off of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/challenges\">our 28 Day Total Body Clean Up Challenge<\/a> and we have new FC Gear (including pedometers!) available on <a href=\"http:\/\/store.fitchicks.ca\">our online store<\/a>.\u00a0 So to help you kick off the FIT CHICKS New Year, we have asked the fab <a title=\"SPECIAL GUEST BLOG \u2013 5 ways to keep happy even when it\u2019s crappy!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/2011\/11\/special-guest-blog-5-ways-to-keep-happy-even-when-its-crappy\/\">Dani from Body By Nature <\/a>to come back and share some of her simple tips for a healthier, more fab you this year&#8230;check it out!<br \/>\nFIT CHICKS xo<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/danielle_headshot-cropped.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3539\" title=\"danielle_headshot cropped\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/danielle_headshot-cropped-266x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>A Healthier Year \u2013 By Danielle Felip<\/h3>\n<p><strong>CHICKS, the start of a new year is a really great time to work towards goals<\/strong> but doesn\u2019t the word resolution seem big and scary?  Often we get in the mind set that we need to lose a certain number of pounds or give up certain things to be healthier and happier and while this can spur motivation, it was also create a lot of pressure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Changes to be healthier don\u2019t have to be large scale; <\/strong>even a few small adjustments in your daily life can have a long-term positive impact.  <strong>Here are a few simple ideas you can add in to your routine to make 2012 a healthier year<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Dani&#8217;s Simple Tips to a Healthier, More fab you!<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Try having a glass of water with lemon upon rising.<\/strong> This is great for hydrating the body and aiding in detoxification.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ensure you have colourful fruits and veggies at each meal.<\/strong> Eating a rainbow of colourful fruits and vegetables provides valuable antioxidants, minerals and phytochemicals which helps prevent obesity, illness and disease.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t forget to floss.<\/strong> It\u2019s true, flossing can help reduce the risk of heart disease,  tooth decay and bad breathe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Make simple switches.<\/strong> Eat white bread?  Switch to whole grain bread.  Use refined sugars?  Try natural sugars such as maple syrup, stevia or coconut sugar.  Like cookies?  Me too.  Have 2 instead of 3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Positive self talk.<\/strong> It\u2019s easy to look in the mirror and nit-pick all of our flaws.  Why not give yourself some love and each time you look in the mirror say something nice to yourself.  Positive affirmations can go a long way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep fit<\/strong>.  Exercise releases brain chemicals that make us feel great.
