{"id":3136,"date":"2011-09-26T10:09:46","date_gmt":"2011-09-26T18:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/?p=3136"},"modified":"2011-09-26T10:09:46","modified_gmt":"2011-09-26T18:09:46","slug":"mama-chick-monday-balancing-your-health-fitness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/2011\/09\/mama-chick-monday-balancing-your-health-fitness\/","title":{"rendered":"MAMA CHICK MONDAY &#8211; Balancing your health &#038; fitness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Chicks,<\/p>\n<p>Today on <a title=\"MAMA CHICK MONDAY \u2013 Let your kids make healthy choices!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/2011\/09\/3118\/\">Mama Chick Monday<\/a>, we have the fabulous Christine R from our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/locations\/kitchener-waterloo-bootcamp\">Kitchener Bootcamp<\/a> sharing\u00a0her tips on balancing\u00a0her own fitness \/ healthy lifestyle with being a mom!<\/p>\n<h2>How to balance fitness and a healthy lifestyle with being a mom<\/h2>\n<p>By Christine R, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/locations\/kitchener-waterloo-bootcamp\">Kitchener FIT CHICKS Bootcamp<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>1.\u00a0 Being super organized.<\/h3>\n<p>I schedule everything into my day timer &#8211; kids appointments, my work schedule, events and even fitness.\u00a0 I also try to make the most of my time because. like most moms, my weeks are super busy.\u00a0\u00a0 If I am waiting for one of my kids during a scheduled activity, I will go for a walk or a run, bring a clean eating or fitness magazine with me to plan meals and keep up with current trends, make grocery lists, plan ahead or even buy the groceries.\u00a0 I also manage to complete at least 2 workouts per week at work in the employee fitness room during my lunch break.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>2.\u00a0 Planning healthy meals with the family.<\/h3>\n<p>The more prepared you are, the less likely you are to make unhealthy meal choices such as fast food before shuttling the kids to all of their activities.\u00a0 Involving the entire family in the menu planning and preparation makes it even better!\u00a0 I also try to keep my fridge and pantry stocked with healthy choices so if we are on the run, we can grab a quick wrap,\u00a0 piece of fruit and of course our water bottles!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>3.\u00a0 Include the entire family in workouts<\/h3>\n<p>Go hiking,walking, play at the park together run around and be silly instead of just being an observer.\u00a0 This way I get to sneak a workout in too!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>4.\u00a0 Taking some &#8220;me&#8221; time<\/h3>\n<p>Whether its a bubble bath or a girls night out in order to destress.\u00a0 I recently started doing hot yoga classes with a friend.\u00a0 I do this either on my day off if the kids are in school or later in the evening just before the kids go to bed.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also important to take some &#8220;we&#8221; time as a couple without the kids.\u00a0 We try to have a weekend away every couple of months either on our own or with friends and the kids get to spend time with their grandparents. .<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>5.\u00a0 Running my Kitchener FIT CHICKS boot camp.<\/h3>\n<p>I feel great afterward.\u00a0 I have time to have supper with the kids, do homework then I run my class and my husband puts the kids to bed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>6.\u00a0 Having a workout partner.<\/h3>\n<p>I have a\u00a0 &#8220;mama chick&#8221; friend at work that is like minded and we work out together regularly, share healthy recipes and strategies, vent our frustrations and make each other accountable for our actions.<br \/>\nMy favourite workout, besides the obvious&#8230; FIT CHICKS boot camp&#8230; is working out at home.\u00a0 The garage is our &#8220;gym&#8221; equipped with an elliptical, TRX, Bow Flex. free weights, heavy bag, chin up bar and of course great music!\u00a0 My husband and I workout together regularly while the kids are playing with their friends or when they go to bed.\u00a0 Sometimes the kids workout beside us and do body weight exercises.\u00a0 This way I can still exercise while spending time with my peeps!<\/p>\n<p>So Chicks how do you balance your own fitness with being a fit, fab mama?\u00a0 Sharig is caring so please let us know!<\/p>\n<p>Have a fab day!<\/p>\n<p>FIT CHICKS<\/p>\n<p>PS.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t forget, chicks that our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\">October indoor bootcamps starts on Oct 3rd<\/a> so join in on the fun!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey Chicks, Today on Mama Chick Monday, we have the fabulous Christine R from our Kitchener Bootcamp sharing\u00a0her tips on balancing\u00a0her own fitness \/ healthy lifestyle with being a mom!
