Plant foods are not only lower in fats and higher in nutrients and fibre, but they are also better for the environment and cheaper too! A can of beans (which I can make a meal for my family out of) is less than a buck, where as 4 chicken breasts is almost 10 dollars! (at least they are out here!)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Grilled-Portabello-Mushrooms-Grilling-300x210.jpg\" alt=\"Grilled-Portabello-Mushrooms-Grilling\" title=\"Grilled-Portabello-Mushrooms-Grilling\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-295\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So this week, try to replace two of your dinners with meatless entrees. One easy thing I do is make my regular Shepherd&#8217;s Pie recipe, but I throw in a can of lentils instead of ground beef. I also make a lot of stir fries with tofu as the protein source(buy the pre-pressed for added convenience, but make sure it&#8217;s organic!) And portabello mushrooms marinated in balsamic vinegar and grilled make a great burger patty! (I like mine topped with roasted red peppers and goat cheese.)<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d love to hear any ideas you Chicks have for meatless meals too!
