A good way to remember is the &#8220;no eye&#8221; rule.\u00a0 A vegan chick doesn&#8217;t consume or use products that came from something that has eyes. In terms of food, that means no meat, no egg, no dairy and other products that appear to be vegan-friendly but aren&#8217;t. For example, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madehow.com\/Volume-5\/Gelatin.html\">gelatin<\/a> is made of animal tissue, bone and skin &#8211; so no jell-o for our vegan chicks!<\/p>\n<p>She also likely doesn&#8217;t wear leather, fur or wool and won&#8217;t use products that are made with animal by-products or tested on animals. As with any lifestyle, the range may vary, so always check with your vegan pal!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Vegetarian<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Vegetarians are chicks who don&#8217;t eat meat, but there are lots of variations!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Lactarian<\/span> &#8211; This chick will eat dairy items, as long as the items are gelatin and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vegsoc.org\/info\/cheese.html\">rennet<\/a> free. She might love our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/?p=1022\">Portabello Mushroom Burgers<\/a>!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1465\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1465\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1465\" title=\"vegetables\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/vegetables-300x283.jpg\" alt=\"vegetables\" width=\"300\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/vegetables-300x283.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.fitchicks.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/vegetables.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1465\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ovo-vegetarian (eggetarian)<\/span> &#8211; This chick won&#8217;t eat dairy, but will eat eggs<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Lacto-ovo vegetarian<\/span> &#8211; You guessed it! This chick will eat dairy as well as eggs!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fruitarian<\/span> &#8211; Although less common, these chicks only eat fruit or 75% of their diet is fruit. Fruitarians need to be sure to get lots of support from a GP or naturopath as it can be super tricky to get all necessary nutrients.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pescetarian<\/span> &#8211; No meat for this girl, but she&#8217;ll eat fish. She may or may not eat dairy and eggs. It&#8217;s always best to check!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Omnivore<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These chicks eat it all &#8211; fruit, veggies, grains, dairy, meat, fish&#8230; !<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Raw Foodist<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also known as the &#8220;living food diet,&#8221; these chicks believe that they obtain higher digestive enzymes and higher nutritious value by eating only raw foods. This means no cooking, boiling, etc. It sounds simple, but these chicks are committed!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are definitely more out there, but it&#8217;s a good place to start! Remember, everybody approaches food differently but the most important piece is to get your vital nutrients in! And along with healthy eating, you want to make sure to get a good workout in, too!
